WELCOME TO KAS POKENO

Our Pokeno programme has been open since 2020.

 

Term 1 of 2026 will see our Pokeno Programme run from the Pokeno Community Hall, with our staff operating a walking bus to and from the venue.  On Tuesday afternoons, the programme will run from the School Grounds. We have access to Pokeno School, where we can use the large school field for outside games & activities & the school playgrounds for free time fun.

We will not be running a Holiday Programme at Pokeno during January of 2026, however we hope to be running one again from April 2026 School Holidays.

pokeno care SCHedules

We believe it's essential for children to understand the daily routine at KAS, which includes time for organised activities, imaginative play, free choice, structure, and variety. Therefore, our daily schedule will be arranged as follows:

Before School Care

  • 6.30am - programme open

  • 6.30 - 6.45am - quiet activities

  • 6.45 - 7.40am - breakfast

  • 8.10am - whistle blows for cleanup, then staff run an organised game

  • 8.20am - children sit down ready to be signed out/roll call

  • 8.30am - children released to school, new entrants are walked to their classroom

​After School Care

  • 3.00 - 3.30pm - sign in, homework club and a supervised game and/or craft

  • 3.30 - 3.45pm - afternoon tea

  • 3.45 - 4.45pm - structured group activity time e.g. cooking, science, arts and crafts, sports and games

  • 4.45 - 5.15pm - roll call then free choice, playground time or an organised game

  • 5.15 - 6.00pm - clean up and wind down, quiet games​

​Holiday Programme

8am to 3pm – main programme, plus we offer before and after care from 7am to 8am, and from 3pm to 6pm.

 

  • 7.00 - 10.00am - (No trip) kids choice, supervised games and crafts are set up for children to participate

  • 10.00 - 10.15am - morning tea (children bring their own)

  • 10.15 - 12.30pm - activity time - organised themed activities in groups

  • 12.30 - 1.00pm - lunch (children bring their own)

  • 1.15 - 3.30pm - activity time - organised themed activities in groups

  • 3.30pm - afternoon tea (supplied by KAS)

  • 4.00pm - 5.30pm - kids choice and supervised activities

  • 5.30 - 6.00pm - quiet game time

 

Roll call at 9.45am/12.30pm/3.30pm​

PROGRAMME ASSISTANT

I used to work as a teacher in India, and I’ve always had a deep love for working with children. I hold a  Bachelor’s degree in Science, but my true passion has always been in education—especially when it comes to helping kids grow, learn, and express themselves. One of my favourite things to do is arts and crafts with children. I find it’s a great way to connect with them and encourage creativity.
